Gerd Leonhard’s learning futures (by Learn Patch)

Someone filmed this from the first row at the Learning Technology Conference in London on Wednesday this week:)))  See the slides here.  The power of the crowds at work:))

Visit my Youtube channel here, btw.

Recorded Jan 18, 2013, in Mill Valley, CA, this is Part 3 of a conversation between me and Futurist Dr. James Canton. This video is part of the new MeetingsOfTheMind.tv series (launching soon). Topics discussed include general sustainability trends and predictions, ‘green future’ opportunities, the future of capitalism and ‘growth & profit economics’, accountability and social innovation, renewable energy, Jeremy Rifkin’s Intergrid, and much more. Apologies for the low audio output, btw; try the MP3 version via the link below for better sound.

Youtube’s evolution from cute cat videos to Gangnam Style | SmartPlanet

In previous year-end lists, amateur viral videos at least shared the spotlight with videos that were professionally produced. This year, however, only one video, a father calling out his daughter for a Facebook post, went ultra-viral (at least enough to make the top 10). In addition to the Facebook father video, the top 10 saw four music videos (including “Gangnam Style” and “Call Me Maybe”), two comedy sketches, one commercial, one amazing feat, and one caused-based. video.

YouTube commissions more content

YouTube, of course, which this week revised its new strategy of commissioning its own video content for its channels. Last year, the Google offered a million dollars each to 100 video creators in exchange for original content that would be released on YouTube. Now, they’ve expanded the program to include another batch of creators, and launched it in the UK, France, and Germany.

The deal remains the same - the money is an interest-free advance, to be repaid from the ad revenues. Once the advance is earned out, the revenues are split between Google and the videographer. There has been criticism that Google hasn’t done enough to promote the channels, although they point out that 25 of them are doing more than a million views a week.

PDFs, audio and video from the July 17 2012 webinar on the Future of Media (Futurists Gerd Leonhard and Ross Dawson)

gerdandross:

Today’s webinar on The Future of Media was a really fun event. We reveived many great questions from the audience (roughly 50 people were online), and had some very much ad-hoc and real-time interactions using the pretty cool GoToMeeting tools (even thought we would have liked a live video feed that feature is almost always very problematic and instabil)

You can download the MP3 file (iPhone, iTunes etc) with the entire conversation here. Gerd’s PDF is available for download here (20 MB high res), and Ross’s PDF is here.  Both are provided under creative commons attribution non-commercial license, as usual.

Update: we now have full video and audio versions available via Gerd’s MediaFuturist blog, here, and on Youtube.
